Vatican to host world pro-life gathering in June to mark Year of Faith

REV. GENO SYLVA Pontifical Council for Promoting New Evangelization "We have to be a Church that encourages and supports those people who everyday suffer with those who suffer, those who speak for those that can't speak. The event will take place from June 15-16, and is expected to draw thousands of people, including several pro-life groups from across the United States and Latin America. Although the pro-life message is most often associated with getting rid of abortion, the Vatican emphasizes that the protection of life spans well beyond the womb, into all stages of human life. REV. GENO SYLVA Pontifical Council for Promoting New Evangelization "Of course we have to protect the child in the womb. But we also have to elderly, those who are in nursing homes, those who are sick, all those people who suffer that we need to be the ones that stand up for the rights of all those living. On Saturday, June 15, pilgrims will have the chance to recite the Creed before the Tomb of St. Peter, before breaking into different sessions depending on the pilgrim's language. It will be followed by a candle-light vigil in the evening through Via della Conciliazione. REV. GENO SYLVA Pontifical Council for Promoting New Evangelization "The culmination, the high point is the celebration of Holy Mass, presided by the Holy Father, Pope Francis. The Council for Promoting New Evangelization is also reaching out to youth groups, in an effort to pass along the pro-life message to younger Catholics. The gathering will be the Vatican's last major event before Pope Francis travels to Brazil for World Youth Day. RCarr MG -VM -PR -U:SCar
