Pope on migrants, refugees: Find applicable solutions to ease their hardships

POPE FRANCIS

"I invite especially all the governors and legislators of the entire international community to respond to the reality of people who are forcibly taken out of their countries.  Effective measures to protect the dignity of people and to improve their quality of life need to be developed, in order to face the challenges that come from modern forms of persecution, oppression and slavery. This is, I repeat, about  human beings, who need solidarity and assistance, who need urgent intervention, but also and above all they need understanding and kindness.â?

This Council is the body that informs the Pope on issues pertaining to the situation of migrants, including what can be done to address their challenges.

POPE FRANCIS

"We as a Church, should remember that healing the wounds of refugees, displaced people and victims of human trafficking is putting into practice the commandment of love that Jesus taught us when he identified Himself with foreigners, with those who suffer, with all the innocent victims of violence and exploitation.

Towards the end, the Pope encouraged the Council to help migrants, refugees and victims of human trafficking. But above all else, he called on them to give hope to those in need.
