Pope Francis asks Brazil families to pass on their Faith

Pope Francis sent a message to the participants of Brazil's National Family Week 2013. He recalled and thanked the country for his experience in Rio de Janeiro, and welcomed the participants to the event, which will focus on the family's role in education and passing on the Christian Faith.

The Pope also reaffirmed one of his main ideas within his first encyclical, Lumen Fidei, to say that "within their families parents encourage shared expressions of faith which can help children gradually to mature in their own faith. â?

The Pope also reminded them to resist a throw away culture that lacks any value for life. He invited participants to protect life from the womb, and to defend and care for the elderly, who he described as the memory and wisdom of all populations.
