Warm meeting between Pope and the families of president's employees
The official visit Pope Francis made to Italian President Giorgio Napolitano ended with a warm meeting between the pontiff and the families of the employees from the presidential palace.
Pope Francis had asked to meet with them personally before heading back to the Vatican.
"Some of you have the chance to learn about the different social, family or personal problems that citizens trustingly leave at the hands of the President of the Republic. I wish you all to always have a spirit of acceptance and understanding for everyone.â?
The gathering with families was brief, but charming. The Pope's rapport with children was clearly evident until the end of the event.
"Goodbye. Pray for me.â?
"Pray for me.â?
This is the third time that Pope Francis had met with Giorgio Napolitano, but the Pope's first official visit to the Quirinale. The building itself used to be the Papal residence in the past, and even hosted several conclaves. But today, it is the home for the president of Italy.
Unlike the visits from previous Popes, this time around Pope Francis returned to the Vatican without the use of sirens or special motorcades.
