The Vatican reveals last major events of the year of the Faith

The Year of the Faith is coming to an end and the Vatican has revealed the three major events that mark it before the closing Mass on Sunday, November 24, solemnity of Christ the King.

MSGR. RINO FISICHELLA

President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting New Evangelization

"The goal of the Year of the Faith was to recover the "taste for the Faith. It was meant to be a moment for deep reflection to discover again again the encounter with Christ and His Church.

On November 21, the Pope will first visit the monastery of Camaldolese nuns in Rome. Francis will join the nuns in their prayers and Eucharistic worship.

"It will be a day dedicated to those who have chosen a cloistered life in order to dedicate themselves fully to a life of prayer and contemplation.

On Sunday 23 evening, the Vatican has asked 500 cathecumens to go to Saint Peter's Basilica.

The Pope will meet 35 of them at the entrance and will ask the traditional questions of the rite. Some of them will also give their testimonies.

MSGR. RINO FISICHELLA

President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting New Evangelisation

"Some of the cathecumens lived their conversion in a very private way, because they are risking their live. That's why the path each one follows is very close to their personal experiences. But it is planned that some may read their testimonies.

On Sunday Francis will mark the end of the Year of the Faith with a Mass at Saint Peter's square. That same day the relics of St. Peter will be exposed and Pope Francis will deliver an Apostolic Exhortation on the New Evangelisation.

The Vatican has also decided to carry out a collection during the Mass to help those affected by the typhoon in the Philippines. As Msrg. Fisichella reminded, faith without deed is useless.
