Pilgrims give Pope Francis giant Italian Christmas cake
After his General Audience, pilgrims usually give the Pope many gifts. But this Wednesday, these pilgrims take the cake, quite literally. They gave Pope Francis a giant "panettoneâ? shaped like St. Peter's Basilica.
The "panettoneâ? is a very traditional Christmas dessert in Italy. As the Pope looked on, surprised, one of the pilgrims explained that it was made of chocolate and nougats, and that in addition to the dome of St. Peter, it also had a small Nativity scene.
Pope Francis thanked him for the gift and greeted him, as well as the other bakers.
