Kooky confusion for same name family members at General Audience

Traveling is not easy. Much less, when it comes to long distance flights lasting more than 10 hours. But each Wednesday, St. Peter's Square is filled with pilgrims that have seen it all: lost baggage, delays, or even last minute cancellations.

But, for this particular group, a curious coincidence delayed their trip longer than usual.

"Yeah! There's seven of us traveling. There's two Tom's, two Jason's, and two Mary's!. So we had a heck of a time getting on a plane with the tickets and with security because the names were the same.

The group came all the way from Atlanta, in the southeastern United States, and all of them, except for one, share each others' names. But what truly makes it complicated is that they're all family, so even their last names are identical.

"Well, they wouldn't print out our boarding passes because they were seeing it as double booked. Because there were two Jason's, there were two Mary's... so we couldn't get our tickets to print. But we're worried about going back! We have to fight the battle again!

But their delay at the airport is unlike the wait times at the Vatican. All seven attended the Sunday's closing Mass for the Year of Faith. And on Wednesday, they woke up bright and early to come and see Pope Francis.

"It was a really good feeling, he was just so happy-appearing and he makes you feel good about everything. He just seems so down to earth. I'm just really thankful to be here and to be Catholic and to be a part of it.

They don't know what will happen airport as they return home, or how long they'll have to wait. But they're not worried. They not only saw the Pope up close, but also have an interesting story on how they got here.
