Vatican Christmas Tree arrives one day ahead of schedule

The Vatican's Christmas Tree arrived at St. Peter's Square earlier than expected. The giant fir tree left the Bavarian forest on Monday, and made the trek across the Alps and down Italy. ;

On Thursday morning, workers placed the 45-year-old tree, with the help of a large yellow crane. It stands in the middle of the Square, next to the Obelisk. ;

Workers are also building the giant metal skeleton that will hold this year's Nativity scene, which comes from Naples.
