Pope Francis sends out his Christmas cards

This is the Pope's Christmas card. It's elegant and simple and full of symbolism. It shows a sheep, which is one of the images, Pope Francis often uses in his homilies.

The image on the card dates back to the 16th century. Designed by Italian Giorgio Ghisi, it represents the pastoral role of shepherds.

The card also has a Bible quote. From the Gospel of St. John, 'The true Light, which illuminates every person.
