Cardinal Joachim Meisner turns 80. Number of elector cardinals drops to 108

On December 25th, Cardinal Joachim Meisner turns 80 years old, which means the German Cardinal will no longer have the right to vote in an eventual conclave. Meisner, was the Bishop of East Berlin and Archbishop of Cologne, which is the same city Benedict XVI visited back in August 2005, just a few months after his election. Now that he is 80, Meisner is one of 91 non-elector cardinals. The number of cardinal electors currently stands at 108. JMB/KLH RR vm - PR Up:JRB #Vatican
