June: Pope Francis creates commission to reform the Vatican Bank

Pope Francis started off the month of June with a ceremony never attempted before: at five in the evening, local time in Rome, he led a Eucharistic Adoration simultaneously throughout the world. Millions of Catholic across the globe joined Pope Francis at that very same time in praying for the Church and victims of "new forms of slavery.� Pilgrims quickly discovered Pope Francis' humanity, both through his actions and words. On June 5, he made an appeal against letting food go to waste. POPE FRANCIS "We must remember that when we waste or throw away food, it's as if we're stealing it from the table of the poor. When he met with European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso, Pope Francis addressed the topic of youth unemployment. During this month, one of his most talked about actions was the creation of a five-member commission of experts to reform the IOR, the Vatican Bank.
