Vatican publishes document denying ties between monotheism and violence

The International Theological Commission published a document explaining why there is no direct correlation between monotheistic religions and violence.

The text is the product of nearly five years of reflections and meetings, dissecting the role of violence in religion and Christianity.

It's titled "God, the Trinity, and the Unity of Humanity: Christian Monotheism and its Opposition to Violence.â? The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith authorized the publication.

Among its claims, is that Christianity builds peace and reconciliation, and that promoting violence is corrupting the faith.
