Pope sends an iPhone video message, praying for Christian unity

Hundreds of Pentecostal Christians prayed for Christian unity, during this recent prayer session.

What happened next was unexpected. Their Bishop Tony Palmer had a surprise.

It turns out, he had met the future Pope, back in 2006.  Recently, they had talked over the phone and as good friends, they had even met at the Vatican

Pope Francis told him he had an idea: For the Bishop's upcoming prayer session, Pope Francis wanted to send a message to the group.

BISHOP TONY PALMER

"I said, do you want me to write it down? He said: Why don't you take a video? I had this in the back of my mind, I had my iPhone, I always have my iPhone... I had it in the back of my mind to ask him... but I didn't want to abuse our friendship.

POPE FRANCIS

"I speak to you as brothers and sisters, with simple terms. With joy and nostalgia. May we grow in our nostalgia, so that it may lead us to meet and embrace one another. To Jesus Christ as the one and only Lord of the Church. Pray to the Lord for unity. Let's go forward, we are brothers and we spiritually embrace each other. May the Lord complete the work He has begun. Because this is a miracle, the miracle of unity has already begun. A famous Italian writer, Manzoni, wrote about this in one of his novels. He was a simple man and he wrote: 'I've never seen the Lord start a miracle without Him finishing it correctly.' The Lord will finish the miracle of unity.â?

The Pope's message left them all stunned. The Pope also asked  for prayers. The Pentecostal community responded by praying and by sending the Pope a video of their own.
