Approximately half a million people will visit the city of Rimini the last week of August. The huge conference, the Rimini Meeting, will focus on 'existential and global peripheries.

GIORGIO BUCCELLATI
Professor, UCLA (USA)
'We are all drawn to the periphery. We all want to get away from the center, even our own personal center. The periphery becomes a sort of refuge, that can be unsteady, or can be very productive, if anyone tries to do something while outside this center. So it's an intriguing title, which draws attention. Then there's also, the Pope's model, where he said right away that he came from the periphery. So. I think that there are number of factors that make this title very relevant.

About 200 speakers and presenters will dissect issues of violence and war around the globe. They include the Italian ministers for labor and education, as well as the Vatican's permanent observer to the UN. In addition to politicians, business and cultural leaders will also talk about how to achieve piece and bring hope through dialogue and friendship to conflict areas. Religious leaders, like the Custos of the Holy Land, and athletes and entertainers will also take part.

EMILIA GUARNIERI
President, Meeting for Friendship Among the Peoples Foundation
'With this year's Meeting, we hope to find people that we know will share the way of the truth, a path of discovery, a path of positivity. Above all, we hope that this meeting will change us once again.

The program includes over 100 conferences, 17 shows, 14 exhibitions, and 10 sports events. All the work will be possible thank to the hard work from 4,000 volunteers.
