What if instead of throwing away good food, it was given to those who don't have any? FameZero.com thinks it would end world hunger.

This campaign launched a new app that bridges the gap between those who have more food than needed and the hungry. It has three types of users: 'donators,' who give the food, 'angels,' deliver it, and 'centers,' where it's given to the needy.

Msgr. Francisco Froján came up with the idea. He explained that it's meant to create a space where users can change food without paying money.

'For example, imagine you gave a party at home and you have tuna cans left... You can share that info on the Internet and on our app. The 'angel' will come that same evening and the food will be immediately delivered to someone who needs it. Everything is done without asking for money.

The president of Caritas Internationalis, Honduran Cardinal Oscar Rodriguez Maradiaga, stressed the importance of the poject on a global scale.

'Feeding the whole of human family without leaving anyone out is a great challenge we have to face. Especially because we know that there is enough food in the planet for everyone. A lot of things can be done to tackle the unfair situation of those those who don't have enough food.

For Cardinal Maradiaga, fighting world hunger is not the only good quality of this app. He argues that the more food is saved, the less waste there will be.

'Reducing waste means saving energy. Having less food in landfills means spending less energy to get rid of it, dedicating less space for waste, as well as having less intensive farming deforestation. At the end, it means being more careful with our environment and planet.â?

The app will be tested in Italy, where it will be released on December. Their creators hope that more countries will use it and that it will help end world hunger.
