The Pope met with a delegation from the Anglican Catholic International Commission in the Vatican's Apostolic Palace. The Commission was instituted back in 1966 with the approval of Pope Paul VI and the Anglican Primate of the time, Ramsey.

POPE FRANCIS
'You are gathered here today, for a new chapter in your dialogue, which is currently looking at its relationship with the Universal Church and the local Church, in particular, the discussion process and moral and ethical issues.â?

The Pope then highlighted that ecumenism is not a secondary issue for the Church. On the contrary, working towards unity, he added isn't optional. He then explained that differences between Catholics and Anglicans should not be described as inevitable.

Once again he highlighted that Christian persecution is a bond that unites them all.
