More than 130,000 migrants have attempted to cross the Mediterranean in 2015

This is the image that often comes when immigrants try to cross the Mediterranean. ;

Some are fleeing from war, conflict, poverty and persecution. Inside these small boats, they change the course of their lives forever. ;

According to the United Nations, most of them are from Afghanistan, Eritrea and Syria. They always seem to be more and more. ;

In 2014, during the first six months, an estimated 75,000 migrants tried to make their way across the Mediterranean. This year alone, the number has spiked to about 137,000. ;

They try to make their way to European ports to not only find a refuge, but above all else, for the chance of a new life. ;
