PEDRO AGUADO Father General, Piarists "Having priests dedicated to teaching was a surprise.  However, he generated a specific vocation, the vocation of priest and educator in the same person. And that is absolutely a revolutionary act in the history of the Church.â? Pedro Aguado is the Father General of the Piarist Order. He was re-elected a few weeks ago to lead the group, which was founded nearly 400 years ago. FR. PEDRO AGUADO Father General, Piarists "I am convinced that the great challenge we have today is to give life to causes that are bigger than our own aspirations, to causes that God inspires. And without a doubt, the education of children and spreading the Gospel is inspired by God". He has belonged to the Piarist family for more than 40 years, helping children throughout the world get an education. He says his work is always exciting because times and students change. FR. PEDRO AGUADO Father General, Piarists "Young people reflect the problems of adult society. It is not that they are problematic or difficult people. Instead, the society that they live in sometimes does not help them. And they think that society is meant for adults, not children. They reflect what they are seeing.â? In 1597, St. Joseph Calasanz founded the first European public school in Rome. The Piarist order has since expanded its work to more than 30 countries, as it helps create a more educated world one day at a time. AC/ATO AA -SV -PR Up:LOA
