Pope Francis will celebrate the Jubilee of Families this Sunday

After opening the Holy Door, the first great event of the Jubilee will be with families. It will be celebrated throughout the world on Sunday, December 27th.

Thousands of families will participate in local ceremonies with their bishops and others will pass through the Holy Door in the Vatican with Pope Francis.

MSGR. VINCENZO PAGLIA

President, Pontifical Council for the Family

"Who better than families to explain to everyone that mercy is better for families who instead of closing themselves to live in peace go out and find people!

The specific proposal is a family pilgrimage to the cathedral or a sanctuary, confession for indulgence, and performing a work of mercy, like visiting an old person, helping someone who is sick, or giving food to someone who has none.

MSGR. VINCENZO PAGLIA

President, Pontifical Council for the Family

"Today, in a world where everything seems to be closed off so that everyone can live safely at home (which is an illusion), this Jubilee tells us to open the doors of the family. The Church must open them to reach out to everyone and let them in. And families should open the doors of their homes and their hearts to welcome people and meet them.

This Jubilee will be celebrated on Sunday December 27th, because that's the day the Catholic Church celebrates the feast of the Holy Family. It is expected to conclude with the Pope's Angelus, during which he will talk to families that celebrate the Jubilee outside Rome.
