After his general audience meeting this morning, Pope Francis took a moment to pay his respect to the families and the victims of the terrorist attack in Turkey.

POPE FRANCIS
'Before concluding our meeting where we reflect  together on the mercy of God, I invite you to pray for the victims of the terrorist attacks in Istanbul yesterday. May the Lord, the Merciful, give eternal peace to the departed. May the Lord, the Merciful, give eternal peace to the dead, comfort to the families with solidarity in the entire society, and convert the hearts of violent.â?

A 28-year-old suspected member of the Islamic State is responsible for the death of 10 people in a suicide bomb attack in Istanbul. At least fifteen people were wounded.

The attack took place in the Sultanahmet district, near the famous Blue Mosque. Most of those hurt or killed were Western tourists.
