'The population of these two tortured town asks others worldwide not to forget. It is through prayer that they feel our closeness.

The patriarchs of the Middle East do not cease to repeat the same idea. While in Rome, last month, the Syrian Catholic Patriarch of Antioch sent a desperate message.

'The Christian community in Iraq and Syria is increasingly discouraged because they see that the family's of these powerful nations are not interested in the fate of vulnerable communities.

The day of fasting and prayer, in fact, has been proposed by several patriarchs of the Middle East. It is remembered as the day the Pope asked for fasting and prayer to avoid the possible attack on Syria.

Since the crisis broke out in Syria in 2011, Aid to the Church in Need has pledged over 27 million Euros.
