Pope: Religions must condemn those who seek to poison and destroy coexistence

The Pope was reunited with three old friends: A Catholic, a Jew and a Muslim. They are the founders of the Institute of Inter-religious Dialogue of Buenos Aires, an organism that Jorge Mario Bergoglio self-propelled when he was the archbishop of the capital of Argentina.

They met in Rome to study how to export the message behind this organization throughout the rest of the Americas. For years, they have been working in Argentina to promote respect between different religions as part of respect for Creation.

Pope Francis asked them to continue their work demonstrating that religions can contribute to the culture of encounter. He also invited all leaders to condemn the use of religion as an excuse for violence.

POPE FRANCIS

"In addition, we see, with pain, that the name of religion is used to commit some atrocities such as terrorism, sow fear and violence. Consequently, religions are designated as responsible for the evil around us. These abhorrent actions must be condemned jointly and firmly. It is also necessary to take a stand against those that poison the minds, divide and destroy coexistence.

Faced with this challenge, the pope also offers these tips by encourage meetings that allow the sharing of positive values of religions.

POPE FRANCIS

"We need to share the pain as well as hope, to walk together, taking care of each other and of creation in the defense and promotion of the common good.

Before leaving, Pope Francis invited them to continue to work in order to leave a better world for future generations.
