Pope Francis met with Koei Morikawa, the leader of Tendai Buddhism, a branch born more than 1200 years ago. ; On his way to the inter-religious meeting for peace in Assisi, he stopped by Rome to visit Pope Francis. ; Morikawa was accompanied by a large delegation. He gave Pope Francis several gifts, including this cane. ; In return, Pope Francis gave him a copy of his encyclical Laudato si'.
