Pope to Panama Bishops on WYD: "The pope is going to go, me or another, but the pope will go"

Pope Francis confirmed to the bishops from Panama what everyone expected: that "the popeâ? will be present at WYD in 2019 in Central America. "The pope is going to go, me or another, but the pope is going to go." "But how we wish it were you." At the end of this meeting, the bishops presented the Central American version of L'Osservatore Romano. After the version for Spain and Argentina, comes this one which is prepared in Panama. MSGR. PEDRO HERNíNDEZ CANTARERO Apostolic Vicar of Darién "For Panama, it is a sign of progress because the Church there has always tried to reach the entire Christian community." MSGR. MANUEL OCHOGAVíA Bishop of Colón-Kuna Yala "I believe that it will help us, especially with evangelization. It also helps us in this communion that we want to strengthen with the successor of Peter, as well as strengthen a unity throughout Central America that is so important." The Panamanian edition hopes to reach young people, not only in preparation for WYD, but also for the next Synod in 2018, with the theme "Youth, Faith and Vocational Discernment."  MSGR. PEDRO HERNíNDEZ Apostolic Vicar of Darien "One of the questions we asked the Holy Father was what was the possibility of integrating more young people in the Synod." The pope said that there will be an assembly with young people specifically to listen to them and for them to be able to speak at the Synod of what they want and expect from the Church. The bishops of Panama are in Rome making their ad limina visit. They presented the new version of L'Osservatore Romano at the Rome Reports Headquarters, accompanied by the ambassadors of Central America to the Holy See and the director of L'Osservatore Romano, Giovanni Maria Vian.
