GERMAN CARDONA GUTIERREZ
Colombian Ambassador to the Holy See
'There's interest there because there's a link between President Santos and Mother Laura, his great-uncle, Colombia's president in the 1940's, Eduardo Santos. In that time when he was president of the Republic, his great-uncle Eduardo gave Mother Laura the Cross of Boyocá, which is the highest honor given to Colombian citizens.â?

Her congregation, known as Mother Laura's missionaries, work in over 20 countries in Latin America and Africa. They look after what Pope Francis referred to as the world's 'peripheries.
Mother Laura felt strongly about it as well.

SILVIA CORREALE
Postulator, Mother Laura Montoya
'She felt God's paternity very strongly. And she saw that the Lord called on her maternity, a spiritual maternity with indigenous people. That's what pushed her to continue her work.

Even though she died in 1949, her legacy remains alive through her congregation, as well as hundreds of meditations and texts. To further advance her legacy, her missionaries have taken to social networks to spread the social commitment of Mother Laura, Colombia's first saint.
