Pope Francis wrote this letter to the Primer Minister of Australia, Tony Abbott, who will preside over the G20 summit on November 15th and 16th.

In the document, he asks world leaders taking part in the summit to keep in mind that 'many lives are at stake behind these political and technical discussions.

He also lists some of the problems that affect humanity today.

Among them, the Pope mentions severe malnutrition, the rise of unemployment in the world and the 'constant assaults on the natural environment.

He also hopes that violence in the Middle East may finally come to an end, as he encourages to fight the real causes of terrorism, like poverty and the political and economical support to terrorist groups.

The Pope also echoed the tragic situation of  refugees as well as others 'forms of aggressionâ? against people. In particular, he mentions the 'abuses in the financial system,â? that led to the 2008 economic crisis.
