The Pope met in Rome with the superiors of the Sons of Divine Providence. It is a community that serves the elderly and disabled with great delicacy and care, in shelters they call '
cottolengo.â?

'The Sons of Divine
Providence, gathered in the 14th General Chapter in Tortona, the place where Saint Luigi Orione once lived. They have come to ask you a few words and receive your blessing.'

POPE FRANCIS
'The whole Church is called to journey with Jesus along the paths of the world, to encounter the humanity of today, which needs, as Don Orione wrote, â??the bread of the body, and the divine balm of the Faithâ??.â?

The full name of the congregation is Sons of Divine Providence, but it is better known as the Congregation of Don Orione, named after the priest who founded it.

It is present in 296 cities in 30 countries. There lay and religious collaborate while convinced that 'only charity will save the world.' They continue to do this because their
cottolengo homes help as genuine 'headlights of civilization.'
