Pope Francis has released this intense video-message campaign from Caritas to overcome indifference and do something concrete for peace in Syria.

POPE FRANCIS
'It is a situation of unspeakable suffering, where victims are forced to survive while being bombarded by bombs or looking for escape routes to other countries or areas of Syria, the less war-torn Syrian people: leave their homes, leave everything behind... I also think about the Christian communities, which I give my full support, because of the discrimination they endure.

In his message, the Pope recalled that 'there is no military solution for Syria, only a political one and claims that there are countries that call for peace but at the same time give weapons to those in combat.

But Pope Francis aimed his message primarily to ordinary citizens, who do not work for any institution.

POPE FRANCIS
'Works of peace then follow prayer. I invite you to call on those who are involved in peace negotiations to take these agreements seriously and to make every effort to facilitate access to humanitarian aid.

Caritas confirms that they have served 1.3 million people during this civil war, making Syria the largest humanitarian relief operation Caritas has ever worked on.

The campaign includes an up-to-date website, with proposals on building peace as well as a format on how to write to world leaders and prayer vigils.

The web page also includes a commissioned piece by Tammam Azzam, a Syrian artist that evokes the human drama of the tragedy; the history of families broken by war, and testimonies such as 'a Syrian mother in Turkey or '365 days with the Isis.

And, as the Pope says, to overcome the tragedy we must be able to name each of these of thousands of victims of the unjust war.
