Pope Francis returned from Azerbaijan on Sunday and will resume his normal schedule in the Vatican.

On Wednesday morning, the pope will hold a General Audience with thousands of pilgrims from all over the world.

Later that day, in Paul VI Audience Hall, he will inaugurate the 'Sports at the Service of Humanity conference, a global summit about faith and sport, organized by the Pontifical Council for Culture. Important leaders are expected to attend, including UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon.

Pope Francis will also have to keep an eye on the General Congregation of the Jesuits, who are convening in Rome to choose a new Superior General.

The Marian Jubilee is taking place this week in the Vatican, starting on Friday and ending on Sunday. The pope will participate in two of the scheduled events: leading a prayer vigil in St. Peter's Square on Saturday evening, and celebrating the closing Mass on Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

Immediately after that, at noon, the pope will lead the Angelus prayer with thousands of faithful gathered in St. Peter's Square.

According to some sources, it is possible that the pope will visit Amatrice this week, the town most affected by the earthquake that struck central Italy in late August. The Vatican, however, has not yet confirmed this information.
