November 2, 2012. (Romereports.com) "33 Postcards" is a movie based on a true story. It explores forgiveness and self-sacrifice as a way to happiness. The movie deals with an Australian man who sponsors a Chinese orphan and constantly sends her letters. But when the young girl travels to Australia with other orphans, she discovers that the Australian man, Dean Randall, is actually in prison, serving a murder sentence.

“So it´s a story about the love that we all have inside us-that we want to love someone. We also want to be accepted and loved by someone as well.”
Different themes are explored in the film like the coming of age of a child, a man who in a way is a father figure, but cannot give love, loneliness and the path to forgiveness. It tells the story of two people who come from very different worlds, but they share the feeling of being alone.

“Despite your background, your culture, your language, your race we celebrate the similarities.”
The film “33 postcards” was actually co-produced. Australia and China signed an agreement back in 2008 to work on the film. It was then awarded at the Sydney Film Festival, which focuses on multiculturalism. It also won Italy's Fiuggi Family Festival, which showcases films that deal with family.
