April 13, 2011. (Romereports.com) John Paul II traveled to Mexico on five separate trips. For the occasion of his beatification, the Mexican organization Fomento Cultural Grupo Salinas has launched a photo competition based on these trips. It's called “John Paul II: the Pope with a Mexican heart.”
There are two different categories for professionals and amateurs, which are open to Mexicans as well as other other nationalities.
The photos can be of the pope or just different aspects of the environment that marked his five trips to Mexico. They can be in color or black and white and must be submitted in original format, without touch ups or modifications.
Submissions for entry end on May 31. A jury will select the winners and will then be announced on June 14. There will be six winners taking home awards between 2,000 and 8,500 dollars.
