August 31, 2010. A book based on a series of interviews with Benedict XVI will be published by the Vatican. German journalist Peter Seewald interviewed the Pope over this summer. The conversations will be compiled and produced in a book, but the date of publication has yet to be decided.
On two separate occasions Peter Seewald interviewed the future Pope when he was Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger The interviews looked at his life, the challenges of contemporary culture and those facing the Church.
Benedict XVI is not the first pope to agree to publish a book based on interviews with him. In 1994, John Paul II responded to questions from Italian journalist Vittorio Messori, who later published a book entitled: "Crossing the Threshold of Hope."
