June 13, 2011. (Romereports.com) June 29th is the 60th anniversary of the ordination of Benedict XVI. The Bavarians celebrated the event in advance with this parade of marching bands, horses and chariots carrying the most important churches from the pope's homeland.
These horses carried the majestic bright red cathedral of Munich, famous for its two towers. There was also the cathedral of Freising, where the pope was ordained with his brother Georg. This huge float carried the shrine of Altotting, where his parents met, and where his father thanked God that his children had returned safely from the war. There were other churches from Bavaria, like the sanctuaries of Calvary and the church of Birkenstein.
The pope watched from his window and gave an emotional than you.
Benedict XVI “Thank you for the beautiful music that you have brought and for what you have prepared for us. May God bless you!”
This was the year's last Regina Coeli, marking the end of the Easter season. Starting next Sunday, the pope will return to recite the Angelus. For the celebration of the feast of Pentecost, the pope spoke about the Holy Spirit.
Benedict XVI “The Holy Spirit has the power to sanctify, to end the divisions, to dissolve the confusion caused by sin.”
Benedict XVI, who before becoming pope was an organ donor, noted during the Regina Coeli that the World Day of Blood Donors is arriving and thanked everyone who participated.
Benedict XVI “I cordially greet all donors and invite young people to follow their example.”
The pope also recalled the beatification of a German priest, Alois Andritzki, who was murdered by the Nazis in the Dachau concentration camp by lethal injection.
