YoutubeNovember 4, 2010. While celebrating Mass at St. Peter's Basilica, the Pope prayed for the six cardinals, and 122 bishops and archbishops who have died since October 31 of last year. Days after the commemoration of the faithful departed, Benedict XVI read off the names, one by one.

Benedict XVI
"The Cardinal Peter Seiichi Shirayanagi, Cahal Brendan Daly, Armand Gaétan Razafindratandra, Thomas Spidlik, Paul Augustin Mayer, Luigi Poggi, and also many archbishops and bishops."

The Pope spoke about the love of Jesus. He said that thanks to his sacrifice, the cross, which was a sign of "conviction" and "failure" became "life" and "salvation." According to the Pope, it shows the love of God towards man.

Benedict XVI
"By faith in the abundant love donated by Jesus Christ, we know that the smallest gesture of
love is greater than the maximum destructive power and it can transform the world."

The Pope said that God manifests his power through mercy and forgiveness, not by punishment. He also noted that Jesus came “to save and not condemn”.
