In a new children’s book, Max and Benedict, a little bird gives readers an inside look at how the Pope passes his time.

Max is a curious little sparrow that lives in the cupola of Saint Peter’s Basilica.  During the day, he flies to the Pope’s window – the very one thousands of visitors gaze up to everyday from Saint Peter’s Square.

From this vantage point, Max observes Benedict’s long and busy days that often begin at sun up and end well after sundown.

The book details the Pope’s daily itinerary, which includes meeting with visitors, reading correspondence, writing encyclicals and so much more.

It’s a clever vehicle for informing and satisfying curious minds…and not just the minds of children.

The book is the work of journalist and author, Jeanne Perego and will be available in English on May 8th.
