April 1, 2011. For the beatification of John Paul II, a book for children was published that tells the history of the late polish Pope. “Karol, the Friend,” tells the story through different drawings and simple text, the life of the Polish pope from his childhood through the horrors of Nazism, the Stalinist regime, his work in the Church, and his election as pope until finally his death.
It's a fun way to learn about the life of a pope who asked children to
help him accomplish his mission. He would call them “little friends of
Jesus,” even dedicating a pastoral letter to them in 1994. It was the
first directed towards children in the history of the Church.
