October 06, 2012 (Romereports.com) On October 14th,
American Bishops will start a 'Rosary Novena' for life and liberty and they're inviting all Catholics to take part. With the presidential election just a few months away, the event which will kick off in Washington, D.C will probably have a political undertones. But it's also
a way to mark the Year of Faith, 50 years of the Second Vatican Council and the canonization of two American saints. The pilgrimage will take off from the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, which is just a short distance from the White House. The event comes after sharp disagreement between American Bishops and president Obama's health care mandate.
The October 14th launch will also include a midday Mass, where
the homily is reportedly inspired by a phrase of Thomas Jefferson, which reads: “The God who gave us life, gave us liberty.”
