February 22, 2012. (Romereports.com) (-ONLY VIDEO-) Benedict XVI arrived at Rome's Basilica of Santa Sabina to celebrate Ash Wednesday. He received the cross of ashes from Slovak cardinal Josef Tomko, who recited “Remember that thou art dust, and to dust thou shalt return”.
The ashes come from the palms that were burned from Palm Sunday of the previous year.
