With just days to go before the Bishop of Rome officially opens the beatification process for John Paul II, the Vatican has received a flood of over 600 personal testimonies aimed at validating the late pontiff’s sanctity.

For past saints, it normally takes five years before the canonization process commences, but it was clear that at least for the masses who attended the papal funeral, John Paul was already a saint. (Santo Subito)

I am not surprised because I always said that everyone who visited the pope that was close to him, like me, for thirteen years, I saw him at least once a week, I always had the impression that I was living beside a saint.  So for me, I would say it is not a surprise.
