YoutubeMarch 28, 2011. During Sunday's Angelus, the pope called for an end to the violence in Libya and North Africa. Benedict XVI stressed the importance of using “all available means” to achieve a peaceful and lasting solution.

Bendict XVI
As I raise my prayers to the Lord for a return to harmony in Libya and in the entire region of North Africa, I make a heartfelt appeal to international organisations and to political and military leaders for the immediate launch of a dialogue that will halt the use of arms.”

The Pope also stressed the importance of personal prayer, especially during the season of Lent.

Benedict XVI
“Jesus waits for us, especially in this Lenten season, to speak with our heart, with my heart. Let's stop and look for a moment of silence in our room, in a secluded place. Let's hear his voice saying: 'if you knew the gift of God.'”

Benedict XVI explained that Jesus is thirsty for the faith of each person and said that during Lent, “God expects every person to speak from your heart.”
