August 11, 2010. Benedict XVI’s General Audience took place this week at his summer residence in Castel Gandolfo, just southeast of Rome. More than three thousand pilgrims gathered for the papal audience. Pope Benedict spoke to them about the call to holiness.
Benedict XVI "God calls us to holiness. He calls us to follow more closely to Christ, striving to transform this world with the power of love to God and neighbor. "
Benedict also stressed the importance of the heroic witness to the faith given by saints and martyrs, examples for all to follow.
Benedict XVI "Looking at the example of saints and martyrs, let us ask the Lord to inflame our hearts, that we are capable of loving as He has loved us." During the audience, the musical group "Trova de Celaya" performed some well known Mexican songs for the pope and to the enjoyment of all those gathered.
