YoutubeAugust 9, 2010. During the Angelus at Castel Gandolfo, Benedict XVI noted how Sunday's Gospel reading stresses the importance of responding to faith and remaining hopeful.

Benedict XVI encouraged his listeners to go often to Mass – which is what he termed “an encounter with Christ to strengthen faith, hope and charity”.

Benedict XVI
"Let us thank the Lord for the many blessings we have received and draw ever closer to him in prayer, in fidelity to his commandment of love, and in communion with his Body, the Church."

The Pope also highlighted the witness of Saints such as Saint Teresa Benedicta of the Cross, als known as Edith Stein, and Saint Maximilian Kolbe, who he said “whent through the dark period of the Second World War, but without losing sight of hope in the God of life and love”.
