November 3, 2011. (Romereports.com) Every November Benedict XVI descends to the Vatican Grottoes where many of his predecessors are buried.

The pope held a brief moment of prayer at the tomb of St. Peter, accompanied by a small chorus.

This year he did not pass the tomb of John Paul II because his remains were moved to St. Peter's Basilica after his beatification ceremony.
