February 28, 2013. (Romereports.com) After his last general audience, the Pope welcomed a group of civil authorities who came to Rome to greet the Pope. Among them was the
President of the Slovak Republic Ivan Gašparovič. During their brief and private meeting, Benedict XVI said the following:
BENEDICT XVI“I would have gone to Slovakia this year.”The Slovak President said Benedict XVI is always welcome there. The
Pope also met with the
head of the Republic of San Marino, Teodoro
Lonfernini and Denise Bronzetti. The Pope talked about his trip to the
region, describing it as unforgettable.
He also met with the
minister of Bavaria, which is the Benedict XVI's homeland. Horst
Seehofer invited him travel there after his retirement to which the Pope
replied with a simple smile.
The Pope also received a few gifts, like this framed image with a landscape of Benedict XVI's homeland.
