February 18, 2010. As Bishop of Rome, Benedict XVI met with priests in his diocese to mark the start of Lent season.
Benedict XVI
“This is a tradition that’s very important and special to me to mark the start of Lent with my own priests.”
During the meeting with the priests of Rome, the Pope touched on the letter to the Hebrews. He said that the letter helps people understand the Old Testament that speaks about Christ as a true priest and true king.
Benedict XVI
“The heart of all humanity is waiting for the true king to bring justice, love and peace.”
Benedict XVI explained that priests need to be more in touch with humanity and develop human virtues to be able to honor freely God’s will, which according to Benedict XVI is humanity’s true liberty.
