September 13, 2009. In his Sunday angelus, the pope reminded Christians to not forget people who are suffering around them.
Citing Saint John Chrystestamus, Benedict XVI said that faith is dead if it is not accompanied by concrete actions to help others. At the same time he recognized it’s not an easy thing to do.
Benedict XVI“
If a person loves their neighbor with a pure and generous heart, it means that they truly know God.”
He also affirmed that Jesus did not teach a philosophy but a path that leads to new life. According to the pope, in order to follow Jesus the most important thing is to love and accept others because he who does not do so is not a true believer. He said faith is an outcome of love.
