February 3, 2010. During the weekly general audience, Benedict XVI focused on St. Dominic of Guzman. The pope said St. Dominic is an example of someone who “distinguished himself for his interest in the study of Sacred Scriptures and his love for the poor.”
The pope called on priests and lay people to study their Christian faith profoundly in the name of the founder of the Dominican Order.
Benedict XVI“ I encourage all, pastors and lay people, to cultivate this cultural dimension of faith, that the beauty of Christian truth may be better understood and the faith truly nourished, strengthened and defended.”According to Benedict XVI, studying theology isn’t a way to achieve a brilliant career; but a service to be rendered with dedication and humility.
Benedict XVI“Christ, is the most precious treasure that men and women of all times and places have the right to know and love!”Benedict XVI made a special reference to the Year for Priests and encouraged all priests and seminarians to unite their studies with prayers to get to know God on a deeper level.
