Benedict XVI surpasses the 'average number of years' Pontiffs usually serve

YoutubeJuly 25, 2012. (Romereports.com) More than seven years ago, on April 19th, 2005, Benedict XVI was elected Pope. On average, Popes usually lead the Church for 7.19 years. Now, Benedict XVI has surpassed that average.


At 85 years old, Benedict XVI is the 6th oldest Pope in history. On January 9th, 2013 he will surpass Pope Pius IX and move up two spots to 4th place. The three others on the list are Clement X, Clement XII and Leo XIII, who died at the age of 93.
