YoutubeOctober 28, 2009. During the general audience, Benedict XVI recalled the development of Latin theology in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries.

The Pope has said faith and reason are inextricably linked as both seek the truth.

Benedict XVI

“Monastic theology grew out of the prayerful contemplation of the Scriptures and the texts of the Church Fathers, stressing their interior unity and spiritual meaning, centred on the mystery of Christ.”

Benedict XVI also recalled St. Thomas and St. Bonaventure as an example of understanding of faith through reason.

At this hearing there have been some changes. For example, a passage from the book of Psalms was read before the Pope outlined his catechesis in which he also recited in Portuguese.
