YoutubeFebruary 26, 2013. (Romereports.com) On February 28th, at 8p.m. the Pope's new title will be 'Your Holiness, Benedict XVI' or 'Pope Emeritus.' It's a decision that was made by Benedict XVI after consulting with the Vatican's Secretariat of State and the Camerlengo.

He will continue to wear white, but without the small cape  that covers the shoulders.

FR. FEDERICO LOMBARDI
Vatican spokesman
“His name will continue to be 'Your Holiness Benedict XVI' because really he will continue to be Pope Benedict XVI. In addition, he will be Pope Emeritus.

The Pope will stop using his famous red shoes that became popular during his pontificate, instead he will use brown shoes that were given to him as a gift in Leon, during his trip to Mexico. The Pope says they're very comfortable.

Vatican spokesman

“As far as his shoes, he won't be using the red ones. The Pope will instead wear a brown pair of shoes. Mexico will be very pleased because it's actually the pair of shoes that were given to him during his trip to Leon. Benedict XVI says he will continue using the Mexican shoes because they are very comfortable.”

The Vatican also confirmed that at 8pm, when his resignation becomes effective, the Swiss Guards who are in charge of protecting the Pope, will leave the Apostolic Palace of Castel Gandolfo, since at that Pope Benedict XVI will no longer be Pope. His security will instead be handled by the Vatican's Police force.
